The Juggle

12 Feb 2012 Posted by amber

Hello my name is Amber and I’m a serial offender of ignoring my blog. There is no excuse except life, like everyone I’m busy. Like everyone I tend to take on way too much and something has to give. The blog is my passive fair weather friend, there is guilt but no admonishments or cries of I’m hungry I need a post!!! After ignoring the blog the next thing to give is the washing basket, in-tray, the floor of the car, the things that can’t give are the things that are vocal. Children, my husband and Down To The Woods stockists and customers.

This time of year is really tricky, school holidays have just drawn to an end and I’m just back on deck full-time. From term to term year to year I never learn. I always come unprepared and am left to wing it. No holidays usually booked, care or activities for the girls,  just 100% disorganisation awaits. This happens because I’m so busy juggling the everyday I never have much time to plan ahead and it creeps up on me. None of this is probably new to anyone and I know I’m not alone.

We’re going it alone in 2012 and won’t have a nanny which we’ve really needed and relied upon until this point. Kindy 4 days a week and a combination of Grandma and Mummy on the 5th in theory should see us covered. The juggle is going to be so confusing though, we’ve sat down and attempted to plan out the combinations of drop off’s, pick up’s  and after school activities for the big one. To get this plan right is proving not easy, actually it’s impossible and is the true unsolvable Rubic’s cube.

At about 4pm everyday I have this wave of panic wash over me, where should I be? Am I meant to have picked up a child? Where are they, where am I. This is completely justified, right as the school year drew to a close I forgot my eldest. Twice. Left abandoned at the school gate, only for 15 minutes until a friend called to bale her and myself out.

But again amongst my friends this is the norm. Luckily Down To The Woods is kiddy friendly and has had a good kiddy work-out over the summer. Ok so I will post now that I’ve got this first one out of the way. sorry..very sorry…
